Sheffield City Council's bus-lanes-and-gates page confirms buses, taxis, pedal cycles and solo motorcycles (not motorcycles with a sidecar) may all use ordinary bus lanes — this corrects the earlier assumption that only buses were exempt. Private hire vehicles displaying Sheffield City Council-approved side markings are also authorised; an unmarked or out-of-area PHV is not.
The council does not publish per-lane operating hours centrally — times are shown on the roadside signs at each location.
