About this bus gate
The outbound bus gate plug approaching Asline Road operates 24 hours a day, every day. A camera has enforced it since 18 January 2013.
This is a much older restriction than the four camera points the council switched on further along London Road in June 2026, and it is a bus gate rather than a bus lane — so motorcycles are not exempt here even though they are in the lanes. Buses, taxis, pedal cycles and authorised vehicles may pass through.
Solo motorcycles may not — Sheffield permits them in bus lanes only, never in bus gates. A private hire vehicle counts as an authorised vehicle only if it carries council-approved side markings; an unmarked or out-of-area one does not.
