About this bus gate
This bus gate runs around the clock. Only buses, taxis, private hire vehicles, pedal cycles and exempt emergency vehicles may pass it.
The camera is at the Marlborough Place junction with North Road and catches vehicles heading northbound into Gloucester Place. Pedal cycles are permitted.
An earlier version of this page warned that they might not be, because the bus lanes that used to run along Marlborough Place, Gloucester Place and North Road listed only buses, taxis and private hire vehicles. Those bus lanes no longer exist: the Gloucester Place, Grand Parade and North Road lanes were revoked in December 2021, when Valley Gardens was rebuilt and this bus gate replaced them, and the two remaining Marlborough Place lanes were revoked in February 2026.
What governs this junction now is the bus gate, and its own entry in the order names pedal cycles.

The grounds that win here are that your vehicle was not in the bus gate during its operating times (24/7), that it was an exempt vehicle, or that the approach signage did not give enough warning before the point of no return. Note that paying the £35 discounted rate accepts liability and closes the case, so challenge before you pay.
