About this bus lane
Slough’s newest bus lanes — enforcement began in February 2025 and they issued 1,225 penalty charge notices in their first full year.
Four with-flow bus lanes on both sides of London Road, two south-eastbound and two north-westbound, running between the junction with Hillrise and No. 550 London Road either side of Laburnum Grove. They operate Monday to Friday, 7am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm; outside those hours general traffic may use them.
Buses, pedal cycles, solo motorcycles, taxis, private hire vehicles licensed by Slough Borough Council, council-approved electric scooters and vehicles with no tailpipe emissions on a green number plate are all exempt. Two ANPR cameras enforce them, and the council’s own figures record 1,225 penalty charge notices here in 2025/26, the first full year of enforcement.

Yes, and it costs nothing. Make formal representations to Slough Borough Council first — the authority that issued the PCN has to consider them before it can enforce the penalty. If Slough Borough Council rejects them it must issue a Notice of Rejection, and you can then appeal free to the Traffic Penalty Tribunal. Its adjudicators are lawyers independent of the enforcing authority, and their decision is binding on both sides. The grounds that win here are that your vehicle was not in the bus lane during its operating times (Mon–Fri 7–10am & 3–7pm), that it was an exempt vehicle, or that the signage did not make the restriction clear. It is worth doing: Slough Borough Council accepted 41% of the 2,192 formal challenges it received in 2025/26, and of the 80 that went on to the tribunal, 6 succeeded (figures from its own FOI response). Note that paying the £35 discounted rate accepts liability and closes the case, so challenge before you pay.
