About this bus lane
A combined bus and cycle lane on the Leigh-bound side of the A580. There is no longer a camera on this one: Salford City Council ran camera enforcement here from 27 November 2018 until 9 January 2024 and has confirmed it ended on that date.
The lane itself has not been removed — it is still in the current traffic order and still signed — so driving in it during its hours remains an offence and can still be dealt with by a police officer, but the council no longer issues bus lane penalty charge notices for it. Buses, hackney carriages (black cabs), pedal cycles and emergency service vehicles may use it.
Private hire vehicles — including app-booked minicabs — are not exempt. The council has never published operating hours for this lane and did not supply them when asked, so the times it applies are still unconfirmed — read the roadside signs.
