About this bus lane
Northbound. From Schedule 1 of The Swindon Borough Council (Bus Lanes, Bus Gates and Bus Only Roads) Order 2021, in operation 15 November 2021 (Plan 8).
Note that only private hire vehicles licensed by Swindon Borough Council and displaying a "Bus Lane User" sticker count as authorised — a PHV licensed elsewhere is not exempt. Order-wide exemptions apply: police direction, emergency vehicles responding to an incident, removing an obstruction, avoiding an accident, refuse collection, building or demolition work with the council's prior written consent, utility works, maintenance of the lane, and Royal Mail deliveries to adjacent premises.
Bus lanes also exempt Network Rail incident response vehicles, the council's Homeline Service and Civil Protection Unit, Dial A Ride accessible vehicles showing an authorised user sticker, doctors on an emergency call showing a green flashing light, and stopping to board, alight, load or reach adjacent premises.
Swindon uses ANPR cameras; the penalty rises to £105 if not paid within 28 days.
