About this bus lane
A short east-to-west bus lane on Gun Street, running 20 metres from the St Mary's Butts junction. It applies at any time — the Order states no days and no hours.
Buses, pedal cycles and wheelchair-accessible hackney carriages may use it. A hackney carriage is only exempt here if it is wheelchair accessible — the Order permits a "wheelchair accessible taxi", meaning a licensed hackney carriage built or adapted to load a passenger in a wheelchair from the side.
An ordinary taxi is not exempt, and neither is a private hire vehicle or minicab. Pedal cycles are permitted: this Order names them expressly.
Gun Street is also one of the streets for which the council issues special access permits, so a permit holder is exempt during the hours that scheme covers.
