About this bus gate
Camera-enforced bus gate on Bull Lane N18 between Shaftesbury Road and Hebden Terrace, installed to stop private motor vehicles cutting through while keeping buses and other exempt services moving. ANPR camera enforcement began on 29 August 2023.
Hours and permitted vehicles confirmed by Enfield Council in response to FOI/EIR request FOIEIRREF/759 (23 July 2026): the gate operates at all times, and the exemptions are pedal cycles, Dial-a-Ride vehicles, goods vehicles manoeuvring into the yard outside No.22 Bull Lane, bus-operations incident response vehicles (incident and closure response, TfL asset maintenance, road-closure and bus-diversion works), and ambulance, fire and police vehicles.
Taxis and private hire vehicles are not exempt. Signed under TSRGD diagrams 879, 953, 613 and 954.4; contraventions are issued under code 33B.
