About this bus lane
The northbound run between the Savages Wood and Patchway Brook roundabouts, and the longest of the three camera-watched lengths on Bradley Stoke Way at 792 metres. It is restricted 24 hours a day, every day.
Buses, community buses, dial-a-ride buses, black cabs, private hire vehicles, motorcycles and pedal cycles may all use it, which is an unusually wide list and one South Gloucestershire applies consistently across its Metrobus orders. Everything else is prohibited except to cross the lane.
The 2016 order defines seven numbered bus lanes along this corridor and the council names cameras at three of them. This one is the length the order calls bus lane 4, identified by matching the council’s own camera wording against the direction of travel the order sets for each numbered lane: it is the only north-westerly length before the Patchway Brook roundabout, the lane on the far side of that roundabout running the other way.
All seven lengths carry the same hours and the same permitted vehicles. The council publishes the 21-day 50% discount window but not the penalty amount online; the £70/£35 charge was confirmed by the council under FOI (FOI-2026-003852, July 2026).
