About this bus gate
Order reference POD1. The gate is in operation but is not enforced by camera, and Milton Keynes City Council issues no Penalty Charge Notices for bus lanes or bus gates at all.
That is not permission to drive through it: the traffic order remains in force, the sign is legally binding, and the police keep their own power to prosecute a driver who fails to comply with it. The council told us it is preparing seven initial moving-traffic enforcement sites to go live during 2026 under its designation by SI 2025/1181, so camera enforcement in Milton Keynes could begin at short notice — it has not published which sites yet.
Article 4 of the traffic order prohibits any vehicle at any time; Article 5 exempts buses, emergency and works vehicles, and goods or heavy commercial vehicles loading or unloading.
