About this bus lane
This is a part-time bus lane: Derby City Council gives its hours as 10am to 5pm, with camera enforcement since 3 June 2025. The council did not say which days those hours apply to, so read the sign at the start of the lane.
Derby's penalty charge guidance tells drivers its bus lanes have no restriction times and to assume 24-hour enforcement — that is not true of this lane, which this page previously showed as 24 hours. Permitted vehicles (Derby City Council): buses, coaches and minibuses (8+ seats), and licensed hackney carriages.
Motorcycles are permitted only where a motorcycle symbol is shown on the signage/road markings. Business-related vehicles may be authorised by permit.
Private hire vehicles are not authorised — Derby City Council's own PCN-challenge guidance says a private hire driver is liable with no exemption, while a hackney carriage driver may have a challenge considered on production of a valid licence; the council list does not mention pedal cycles.
