About this bus gate
A signed bus gate open to buses and cycles only, restricted at any time. It is NOT yet camera-enforced: Suffolk County Council states that its moving-traffic enforcement scheme “is not operational and no date is set for its commencement”, so no penalty charge notices are being issued here yet — but the bus gate itself is in force and signed.
One of Suffolk’s four moving-traffic-enforcement pilot sites (Designation Order approved by Parliament November 2024). Local bus-stop signage names the road “Old Ipswich Road”.
The three Ipswich pilot sites (Dogs Head Street, Upper Brook Street, Fore Street) are motor-vehicle-prohibited zones that do not carry buses and are excluded. Penalty would be £70 once enforcement begins.
