About this bus lane
The most heavily camera-covered bus lane in Bristol — ten cameras enforce it along the two and a half kilometres between Eastville and Fishponds, at Boswell Street, Heath Street, Royate Hill, Huyton Road, Alcove Road, Lodge Causeway, Hockey's Lane, New Station Road, Manor Road and Cross Hands.
All ten keep the same hours: 7am to 10am and 4pm to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, with weekends unrestricted. It was the busiest of the corridor lanes for tickets, drawing about 1,034 penalty charge notices in 2021/22, since falling to about 158 in 2025/26.
Bristol City Council lists motorcycles, taxis and emergency vehicles as permitted here alongside buses, and its bus lane page says buses, cyclists, motorcycles and taxis may generally use bus lanes across the city — but it warns that individual lanes have exceptions it does not name, so treat the roadside signs as the authority.
