About this bus gate
The only camera-enforced bus gate in the whole of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
It sits beside Bournemouth station. The camera caught 2,291 drivers in 2025/26 and has issued more than 9,700 penalties in the last five years, so it is easy to get wrong.
The council publishes no operating times for it and no list of which vehicles may pass, so the sign at the gate itself is the only authority on both points — if you are driving a taxi, a motorcycle or a cycle, read it before going through rather than assuming an exemption.
This is the only bus gate or bus lane that Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council enforces by camera anywhere in the three towns, and it has been enforced since February 2013. Transcribed from Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s Officer Decision Record on camera enforcement (February 2023), which states that the council already operates fixed camera enforcement of the bus gate near Bournemouth Station (Coach House Place), and from the council’s response to Freedom of Information request FOI 18202 (19 August 2026), which named this as its only camera-enforced location and gave February 2013 as the date enforcement began.
