About this bus lane
The lane runs on every day except Sunday — Saturdays included, which catches drivers who assume peak-hour lanes are weekdays only. Outside those hours any vehicle may use it.
The restricted stretch is the westbound kerbside lane on the approach to the Ellon Road roundabout. Aberdeen City Council does not enforce this lane with a camera.
The council publishes a monthly table of bus lane and bus gate enforcement notices covering fifteen locations across the city — including locations that recorded no notices at all — and this road is not one of them. The lane and its signed hours still apply; there is simply no fixed camera watching it.
Permitted while the lane is in operation are buses, pedal cycles, taxis and authorised vehicles, which the council defines to include private hire cars, police, fire and ambulance vehicles, and vehicles removing an obstruction from or working on the road.
