Blackpool's two town-centre bus gate cameras issued 35,441 penalties across the three years the council provided, raising £1,050,599 — an average of £29.64 each against a charge of £70 reduced to £35 for prompt payment. Enforcement dropped sharply after the first year, from 14,544 penalties in 2023/24 to about 10,400 in each of the two years since, which is the usual pattern once drivers learn a new restriction. Income did not fall in step: 2025/26 raised more than 2024/25 from almost the same number of penalties, £346,701 against £289,686, so a higher share of them was paid.
Where the cameras are
Blackpool enforces two bus gate cameras, on Church Street and Market Street, both introduced in May 2022 with a warning period before penalties were issued. No league table is shown because the council reports the two together and does not hold, or did not provide, a split between them — a request for that breakdown is outstanding. The figures above therefore cover both cameras combined and cannot be attributed to either road individually. The Corporation Street bus gate, which also has a page on this site, does not appear in the council's enforcement figures at all.
The fine itself
